Most of the programs we offer are month-to-month programs that have no long term commitments. If you are interested in attending a free a trial-class contact us to schedule.
The billing cycle begins on the day you sign up for a program and you will be billed on the monthly anniversary of that day. For instance, if you sign up on July 15th, your next billing will be on August 15th. You can cancel your membership anytime before you are billed, but we ask you provide two weeks notice as a courtesy (please see cancellation policy below).
If you are going to be traveling or away from the gym for three weeks or more, we offer a billing suspension option. We can put your account on “suspension” so that you will not be billed during this time. If you are traveling for less than three weeks, you can schedule make up classes if you are not on an unlimited program.
Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program requires that members wear a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi (aka Kimono). We have Elite Gis available for sale at our gym for most ages / sizes. For our Adult BJJ program we do not require members to purchase our gis but we appreciate our members supporting the gym by purchasing our brand. We require Elite Gi’s for our PeeWee and Youth programs which are available at a discount when you sign up.
For our Muay Thai or No-Gi (Submission Grappling) classes we recommend comfortable shorts with no zippers and a light weight t-shirt or rash guard (we also offer these items in the gym).
No shoes are allowed on the mats, there are some exceptions for wrestling shoes if members have a specific need (please check with a staff member).
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has 13 belt colors for Youths and 7 for adults (see belt colors here). When you join our gym as a member, we will sell you a white belt and any future promotions the belts are free! We also do not charge for testing of belts. We want the belt promotions to be about the achievement of the student and not economics. We follow the IBJJF guidelines for the minimum amount of time for a belt promotion, but each student develops at different speeds and often the actual time is much longer than the minimum. Be patient and enjoy the journey.
We have a unique program at Elite to help ensure everyone gets out of training what they want. Whether that is a great workout and light competition to a super intensive workout and preparation for a national title. We help students indicate what level they wish to train at by offering Elite Intensity Bands (patent pending). These colored silicon wrist bands help the professors and other students know at what level of intensity the person they are sparring with wishes to train at. We have three colors: Green = 50%, Blue = 70%, and Red=90%. Students can exchange colors at any time so if they are nursing an injury or just want a light workout they can put on a green band. Find out more about our Elite Bands here.
Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was formed as a family gym and it has maintained that same culture as we have grown. It is important to us that our members are enjoying our programs and feel they are getting a great value. We will continue to offer great programs and service and while you are enjoying it please continue as a paid member.
Absolutely! Come on out for a free trial class and if you enjoy the program you can sign up for a month with no long term commitment and no membership fees. We have free trial uniforms that you can use, so just wear some comfortable shorts and a t-shirt and give it a try.

Yes, there are local tournaments for all ages and skill levels. The Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools support most of the local tournaments and many of our students compete. We offer a special tournament training class for youths for a small additional charge to the monthly programs. Many of our students compete at the state and national level. Many of our professors also compete – our head professor, Miriam Cardoso is a 5 time world champion and 7 time national champion. Stay in touch with us on upcoming events by joining our facebook page

No, the wonderful thing about BJJ is that it builds on what comes natural to us. Students will learn and execute moves on their first day. We have a great program to ensure new members have a great first experience and then allow them to develop and train at whatever level of intensity they wish. We have members of all ages and skill levels and we all enjoy training and sparring with each other. You will learn how to defend yourself from a larger stronger opponent and be able to start using what you learn after a few classes.
If you want to learn a martial art that will develop strength, skills, confidence, in a fun and exciting environment with the appropriate amount of discipline than Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for you. Earning a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu takes dedication, commitment, discipline, and time. The time will be determined by you and the rules of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. We do not give out black belts, they are earned.
